Recreational Opportunities
The Friends of Ellice and Gads Hill Swamps are working with the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA) to create opportunities for users of these natural areas and to ensure the preservation of traditional uses.
Hunters

Ellice Swamp - Hunting is permitted on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. In addition, during the full week of the December controlled deer hunt, hunting will be permitted from Monday to Sunday.

Gads Hill Swamp - Hunting is permitted 7 days a week.

Hunting memberships are now operated solely through UTRCA.

Opportunities at Ellice and Gads Hill Swamps must register with the UTRCA to be eligible to hunt at either of these areas.
Hikers & Birders

The Ellice Swamp Hiking Trail goes through several different habitats, with interpretive signs along the way. These wetlands are the largest natural areas in Perth County, covering more than 1,700 hectares north of Stratford.

Ellice Swamp - Hiking is permitted on Sunday and Wednesday

Gads Hill Swamp - No hiking is permitted.
